About Enterprise 4 Change
Our cross curricular lessons draw on the resilience of communities living in the slums of Mumbai, and their fight for survival. Enterprise 4 Change encourages children from all backgrounds to tackle their own futures with the same grit and determination.
Our colourful range of cross curricular, interactive lessons are based on the lives of real children and enable children to learn practical life skills such as budget management, resourcefullness, creativty and teamwork.
As well as providing children in UK schools with practical skills, our project has a charitable focus which encourages children to take action and fundraise for their peers in street and slum communties. Fundraising projects teach children leadership and project management skills, as well as instilling a sense of philantrhopy and social responsibility.
As a UK registetred charity, we are able to demonstrate to children, teachers and parents how funds have made a huge difference to the lives of the children in India – with follow up assembly’s, case studies and child/school friendly impact reports!
Enterprise 4 Change is the result of a collaboration between the British Asian Trust and Child Action
The British Asian Trust brings lasting change to the lives of poor people in South Asia through access to education, health and livelihoods. Founded in 2009 by HRH The Prince of Wales, the Trust has helped more than 350,000 people overcome poverty in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the UK.
Child Action (previously The Sharma Foundation) was established in 2009 by Seema Sharma in response to the terrible poverty she witnessed in Mumbai whilst filming Channel 4′s ‘Secret Slumdog Millionaire’. Against the backdrop of poverty, Seema was drawn to the resilient and ambitious nature of the children seeking a way out of the slums, and this fueled her vision of sharing their stories to spark entrepreneurship throughout schools in the UK.
Rota Kids
RotaKids is a great way for youngsters aged between 7 and 12 years old to get together and enjoy working on a fun project.
Rotary clubs will work with schools to help RotaKids get the most fun and enjoyment from whatever they are working on. The school will benefit from motivated youngsters who are eager to use their Maths and English skills to help others, whilst having a great time in the process.
RotaKids will also learn about the importance of citizenship and respecting others, as well as themselves.
We are proud that our Mumbai Experiences project is bring used in RotaKids schools!
